Garnering a 23.4 percent of viewership based on Kantar Media’s TV Rating, Be Careful With My Heart starring the unlikely pair Jodi Sta Maria and Richard Yap broke record in its morning timeslot. On Jodi’s part, she’s grateful that all their hard work has paid off, but is also pressured to maintain their high standing. “Hindi biro eh. Nakakatakot. Pataas ng pataas [yung rating]. Saan na tayo pupunta kung na-reach na yung todo? Pero lagi na lang namin nire-remind sarili namin na nandito tayo para magtrabaho at mag-entertain ng tao. Magstick tayo dun.”
Asked about the secret to a successful TV series to date, Jodi explained that the viewers probably loved the idea of a feel-good show to start their morning right. “Siguro yung contrast and flavor ng characters namin ni Richard, isang napakasungit at isang kengkoy na makulit. Siguro naaaliw yung tao. Napaka-light naman talaga ng story. Nagsisimula yung morning nila na walang bigat sa loob. Happy happy lang.”
As for Richard, he agreed that it’s amazing how he became a household name after his unforgettable portrayal as Papa Chen in My Binondo Girl. But even though the people continue to support his new role in Be Careful With My Heart, he refused to be overwhelmed with his instant stardom. “I was just lucky to be here at the right time. Siguro destiny talaga. I believe in fate and the Lord brings you to places. I don’t think of myself as popular. I try to keep that out of my head. Basta nagtatrabaho lang tayo.”
Their team-up only goes to show that viewers nowadays understand that love teams don’t necessarily mean that the celebrities should have personal attachment with each other off cam. “I think nakikita nila yun. They can separate what’s real and what's just for work. They understand that what we portray on TV is different from who we are in real life.”
