Jessy Mendiola: On her way to superstardom
by Rachelle Siazon | January 30, 2013 10:55 AM |

In her first solo cover shoot for Metro Magazine, Jessy Mendiola revealed her “weird” method of acting. Instead of memorizing her lines repeatedly, she prefers not to dwell too much on her script. “I only read the script once and then I never read it again until before the actual take. When I read it again and again, I get too technical and the emotions don’t come out naturally.”

She landed her big break in showbiz when she was given the title role Sabel in 2010. Looking back, she never thought that playing sultry characters in teleseryes would pave the way for her successful career. “Nung una hindi ko kayang magpa-sexy. I’m more of the laidback, boyish type who you rarely see in a dress. It was the people around me who encouraged and kept me going strong.”

Currently seen in Precious Hearts Romances Presents Paraiso, Jessy is also busy with another teleserye, Against All Odds, which top-bills Judy Ann Santos. Working with local showbiz’s queen of teleserye has inspired her to be better at her craft. “Her acting is so natural. Kung ano nakikita mo in real life, yun din ang nakikita mo, pero in character.”

Jessy is, indeed, on her way to superstardom. Although it wasn’t mentioned in the magazine article, latest reports claim that a major teleserye is in the works for the young actress. Whatever it is, Jessy maintained that she works hard to achieve her dream to make it big in the industry.
