Best known as a wife/mother/manager of celebrities, Annabelle Rama admitted that she is the type of person who wouldn’t back off from a fight especially when it involves her loved ones. As a matter of fact, she has been sued many times now mostly because of her feisty attitude. But she was also quick to say that she’s not a troublemaker without a valid reason. “Never at never ako nag-start ng away sa buong buhay ko. Ako pinanganak ng kinaiinggitan. Maski sino hindi ako pwede apihin.”

But since her accomplishments are mostly centered in the world of show business, it was quite surprising when she suddenly decided to run as House Representative for the first district of Cebu for the coming May 2013 elections. In a recent interview which was aired on TV Patrol, she even admitted that she has no knowledge of legislation at all. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop her from making a bid for Congress, adding that she will seek help from relatives who are lawmakers.

“Inamin ko talagang wala akong alam. Bakit, yung mga nakaupo diyan sarili ba nilang batas yun? Hindi ah. Meron silang mga lawyer din sa likod nila noh, meron din silang mga adviser. Ang dami kong mga kilalang Congresswoman diyan walang ginagawa, text ng text lang. Meron akong mga apat na mga pinsan na lawyers at ex-Vice-Governor, yun ang magtuturo sa akin para sa akin mga batas [na gagawin].”

Among her ten opponents for the said position, her toughest rival happens to be Congressman Raul Del Mar whose accomplishments include six years of service as Deputy Speaker of the House, 54 laws authored, and a perfect attendance in Congressional sessions.

Annabelle, however, refused to be daunted by Del Mar’s accomplishments. “Hindi ko akalain na ang kanilang kandidato na 24 years na diyan wala naman nagawa, yung mga problemang nakikita ko hindi nagawa ng kalaban ko.” The feisty talent manager added that she has what it takes to enter politics. “Ang pulitika at showbiz pare-pareho lang ‘yan, punong puno ng intriga. Kung intriga lang pag-uusapan, sanay na sanay ako diyan, makapal ang mukha ko diyan.”
