Dina Bonnevie says ‘May Bukas Pa’ is the answer to her prayers |

With May Bukas Pa extending its run until next year, award-winning actress Dina Bonnevie will be continuing to entertain audiences as the kontrabida Malena. Dina said that she was very happy that the show consistently enjoys high ratings. “Ang sabi sa akin noon eight weeks lang that’s why I was so happy nung sinabi na na-extend siya up to 20 weeks. Now we got extended until next year. Siguro there’s a purpose. I thank the Lord for making me a part of this show.”
In an interview at the May Bukas Pa thanksgiving dinner, Dina revealed that the show is God’s answer to her prayers. “Pakiramdam ko ang pagkakasali ko dito sa May Bukas Pa was of Divine Providence. Nung Christmas kasi nagdasal ako, ‘Lord, give me a show where I can further glorify Your name.’ Ang dami ko na kasing nagawang shows pero ang gusto ko naman ‘yung maiaalay ko sa Diyos. Gusto ko ‘yung ginawa kong Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos? wherein ipinakita na, hindi talaga natutulog ang Diyos. Nung January nag-fasting kami, I prayed for the same thing.”
Dina then received a call from ABS-CBN asking her if she wanted to do a teleserye. She said yes without even knowing what kind of role she was going to be taking on. “Wala akong kaalam-alam. I just arrived from Switzerlandnung dumiretso ako sa story conference. I didn’t even know what my role was going to be, pumayag na lang ako. I was surprised na maganda ‘yung story. Kahit na bad ‘yung character ko at least kinapupulutan ng aral.”
Aside from knowing that the show is dominating the national TV ratings, what’s more touching for Dina is when people come up to her and tell her how May Bukas Pa inspires them to keep their faith in God. “Kahit sa parlor, palengke, mall… ang daming nagsasabi na nanonood sila ng May BukasPa gabi-gabi. May mga nagkukwento na muntik na raw silang mag-give up pero nung makapanood sila ng May BukasPa nakita nila ‘yung sarili nila at nagkaroon sila ng pag-asa. Sana marami pa kaming maisadula sa show na maipapakita ‘yung buhay ng tao.”
Dina said she is very thankful to everyone who made May Bukas Pa a huge success. She also asked everyone to remember the primary value that the teleserye espouses. “Bukod sa nagpapasalamat ako sa mga patuloy na nanonood ng May BukasPa gusto ko ring sabihin na sana ay nakapupulutan niyo rin ng aral ang aming teleserye. Ang mga kwento po namin ay hango sa Bible. Sabi nga ng aming Creative Head na si Rondel Lindayag, wala namang taong ipinanganak na masama. Man is basically good pero may mga pinagdadaanan lang tayo kaya tayo nakakagawa ng mali. Kaya kung meron man tayong suliranin sa buhay, isipin na lang natin na May BukasPa.”
