Former Pinoy Dream Academy 2 scholar Chivas Malunda will have a small part in the much-anticipated Star Magic World Tour concert to be staged this November 13 at the Araneta Coliseum. ABS-CBN.com caught up with Chivas during the rehearsals for the concert where he shared how thankful he is to be a part of this big event. Hindi kasi ako nakasama sa shows nila sa US so at least ngayon nakuha ako.”
The PDA 2’s Grand Star Dreamer Laarni Lozada and runners up Bugoy Drilon and Miguel Mendoza have all released their albums. Chivas, however, doesn’t feel envious about the success of his PDA2 friends. He shared with ABS-CBN.com that he is currently making his own efforts to conceptualize his own album and hopes a record company will be interested to produce him.
The 23-year old from Dumaguete joined PDA last year in hopes to pursue his love for singing. But due to his delicate health condition, he was pulled out early from the competition. Nevertheless, he was lucky to be given singing jobs after PDA, singing the “Tagumpay” theme for Pinoy Fear Factor and covering “Liwanag sa Dilim” for Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Flash Bomba starring Luis Manzano.
Chivas is already married to Bunny Malunda, also a PDA2 ex-scholar, and they have a five-year-old son named Jethar. Now that he has the responsibility of providing for his wife and son, Chivas helps out in their family business while waiting for the next showbiz project. Dun ako tumutulong sa pagma-manage kapag walang showbiz work. Sa family naman namin ‘yung business so pwede akong mag-leave sandali kapag swerteng may show.”
Gifted with good looks, Chivas shared with ABS-CBN.com that he has received an offer to model for an underwear brand. He admitted that he doesn’t mind going sexy, but that he needs to spend more time at the gym.
Chivas added that he is also open to giving acting a try, but admitted that his true passion is really singing.
While waiting for his debut album project to materialize, Chivas is looking into getting back with his band and doing gigs in small bars here in the city. “Before PDA may banda talaga ako. Enjoy talaga kasi akong kumakanta. Kung may interesadong kumuha sa akin.”
