Enrique Gil is part of the cast of the fantaserye Kokey @ Ako, which is a sequel to the 2007 series about a friendly alien named Kokey. ABS-CBN.com spoke with Enrique during the pictorial for the show where he talked about his preparations for his new role. “Ako si Jet, isang street kid. First time kong gaganap na ganito because usually I’m the rich kid. Nagulat ako na ito ‘yung role ko but I’m challenged because it’s something new. I’ll definitely work on my speech kasi hindi pwedeng may slang ang street kid. Sasanayan ko ang sarili ko na mag-Tagalog.”
The 17-year-old Star Magic talent was last seen as Krista Ranillo’s younger brother in Pieta, and he also had a small role in George and Cecil. In Kokey @ Ako, Enrique will star alongside Angel Locsin and Vhong Navarro, while his ka-love team will be played by fellow Star Magic talent Jessie Mendiola. “First time ko siyang maka-work pero magkakilala na kami dati. This is my first time na magkakaroon talaga ng love team. Sana lang me and Jessie will be able to connect para kapag pinanood kami sa screen, may makikita ang mga tao na chemistry. Mahirap kasing i-fake ang chemistry.”
According to the newbie actor, he finds Jessie a nice girl that he can easily get along with. “Jessie is a quiet type of girl. Pansin ko kasi medyo seryoso siya every time she comes to work which is tama naman. If ever mag-hit itong team up naminat magkaroon ng huge following, I hope we can work together again in another project.”
Enrique is also proud about Kokey @ Ako’s environmental message. “It’s about time that we have a show like this na teleserye pero it will teach us how to take care of our environment. Pagkatapos ng mga calamities na naranasan natin panahon na para magisip tayo kung ano ba ang ginagawa natin sa Mother Nature. Specially ang mga manonood nito is ‘yung mgabata so dapat ma-instill sa kanila ‘yung tamang values and practices on taking care of our environment.”
