Anne Curtis is happy that Showtime is back on the air after the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) tried to impose a 20-day preventive suspension. The MTRCB suspended the said show due to guest judge Rosanna Roces’s commentary about teachers. “It was sad pero at least kahit paano natuloy pa rin kami [via] Magpasikat so okay din lang naman,” Anne explained when Magpasikat temporarily filled in Showtime’s timeslot while the latter was suspended.
Anne, who co-hosts Showtime with Vhong Navarro and Kim Atienza, said that they are entirely over the issue and they are just glad that Showtime is back to bring entertainment to audiences. “Tuloy lang ang pagpapasaya sa mga tao, tapos tuloy kaming Cebu this February,” said Anne about their show’s first out-of-town trip.
Anne also said that their show should not be compared to Pilipinas Got Talent, another talent-search program that will start soon on the primetime block. “Feeling ko it’s totally different lalo na kami, puro grupo. ‘Yun (PGT) pwedeng mag-solo, pwede kahit ano. I don’t think there’s direct comparison. ‘Yung sa amin naman walang promise of being a superstar, kumbaga every week gusto lang naming magpasaya ng tao,” she clarified. Anne also said that there should not be a competition between Showtime and Wowowee. “I don’t think they should be compared. They are two different genres naman talaga. ‘Yung pagka-noontime naman talaga nila is variety ‘yung sa amin naman competition,” Anne explained.
