After convincingly playing the role of the troubled Scarlet in the successful drama series Iisa Pa Lamang, Angelica Panganiban takes time out after her hectic schedule to share what she loves to do off camera in the current issue of MetroActive magazine. The sexy Banana Split actress talks about the sport that she has been hooked on lately, Ultimate Frisbee. The 22-year-old actress shares with MetroActive that contrary to what people may think, she did not get into it solely because of her boyfriend, über-athlete and teleserye hunk Derek Ramsay. “They would joke that I only wanted to get into the sport because of Derek. But that really wasn’t the case. I wouldn’t go through all this if that was the reason,”loch she says in the magazine interview. Angelica shares that she usually plays games every weekends, and attends weekday practices when her busy work schedule allows her.

Unknown to many of her fans, Angel used to be known as a sporty chick in school, having been a member of her swimming and volleyball varsity teams in high school, as well as getting into badminton and basketball as well. “lochI really liked playing sports. I wasn’t that competitive, but I liked it seriously enough to play with my classmates every chance we got, including recess and lunch breaks. So I guess during that time, I was considered sporty,”loch she recalls. Just like how she considers each new role as a test of her skills in acting, Angel also considers Ultimate Frisbee as a big challenge in her life. “lochI know I still need to improve on a lot of things. For me, it’s already an achievement if I can make a good catch. It’s a happy experience. I consider it a package deal, everything I want is there: the people, the sport, the challenge,”loch she admits in the MetroActive cover story.

Angel also shares some of her experience while traveling around Asia with Derek in MetroActive. “lochWe really enjoy the simple life when we visit other countries. We get to commute, eat at roadside stalls, and do things normal people usually do. That’s our idea of happiness. We like to discover new things that aren’t the usual things people do on vacation. We both want to keep moving. We usually like searching for good local food and checking out all the eateries (laughs),”loch she admits.
