King of Talk Boy Abunda and Queen of Talk Kris Aquino denied yesterday (January 25) on The Buzz that their daily morning talk show, Boy & Kris is being axed because of poor ratings. There are talks claiming that the morning show hosted by Boy and Kris will be replaced by another talk-show which will be hosted by three women. Lorna Tolentino is allegedly being eyed as one of its hosts. "Hindi po ito totoo," Boy stressed. "Sa aming timeslot sa umaga, we are the leader in that particular timeslot in the nationwide ratings and maraming salamat po. Sinusuportahan po tayo ng buong-buo ng sambayanang Pilipino."

Kris on the other hand, explained that nationwide ratings just prove that the reports are false. "Kasi di ba, ang Pilipinas is not confined into a certain area only. For you to be elected anywhere, kailangan buong Pilipinas ang sumusuporta sa 'yo," Kris shared. "Lets be direct about it, it's not about Metro Manila, Mega Manila or Central Luzon (alone). We're talking about the whole Philippines," Boy added. "Inuulit ho namin. Sa nationwide ratings, leader po ang Boy & Kris sa buong Pilipinas. And we have the full support of the advertising world." Kris also revealed that a big chunk of the ratings are courtesy of the very solid support of the Visayas and Mindanao areas. She even added that Channel 2’s signal is being improved in Luzon.

Aside from the overall leadership of Boy & Kris in terms of ratings, the talk show has also recently bagged several awards from different award giving bodies – Best Celebrity Talk Show Hosts and Best Celebrity Talk Show from the PMPC Star Awards, Best Celebrity Talk Show host for Boy Abunda for the second straight year from the UP Los Baños Gandingan Award and the very prestigious Silver World Medal for Talk and Interview from the 2009 New York Festival.

So what is really happening to Boy & Kris? The two main hosts refrained from revealing the big surprise. "It's very difficult to say further kasi in the landscape of television, competition is very fierce. Because they always say that if you reveal too much, 'yung kakompitensiya mo, mapaghahandaan ka," Kris explained.“Pero pwede tayong magpasalamat sa management ng ABS-CBN kasi parang promotion ang magaganap sa aming dalawa.” And a sort of answer to everyone’s question, Kris cued in a plug for the new “Boy & Kris” and there are hints that the show will be moving to a night time slot.
