Was Roxanne Guinoo removed from ‘Banana Split’ due to weight problems?

Aside from Valerie Concepcion and Dianne Medina, Roxanne Guinoo will also not be joining the second season of Banana Split. The pretty actress confirmed this news herself in an interview with ABS-CBN.com right after the story conference of the Precious Hearts TV series held at Pinoy Dream Academy’s function room on April 3. “Matatapos na kasi talaga yung first season ng show. And kung ano man yung naging decision dun, management decision yun. So wala akong maipapaliwanag about sa issue,” she began.

There have been reports saying that Roxanne didn’t renew her contract with Banana Split because the show couldn’t afford her talent fee anymore just like in the case of Valerie. She further stressed that she understood the required changes in the program, even if it means parting ways with her female co-stars. “Gano’n po talaga. Sanay naman po kaming lahat. Lahat naman talaga nagpapalitan. Wala ring samaan ng loob. Gano’n talaga eh.”

Roxanne also denied that she is just being picky when it comes to offers that are given to her. Three months-three months tapos kapag na-extend masuwerte na. Siguro time na para matapos yung show at magpasok ng bagong show. May mare-retain, may kailangang ilipat sa show… Siguro may iba ring shows gagawin yung ibang artists, tingin ko ganun. Tsaka decision talaga ito ng management,” she reiterated.

Rumor has it though that the former Maxim cover girl had to be axed from the show because she is having a hard time maintaining her sexy figure, which happens to be one of the major selling points of Banana Split in terms of its female cast.

Nevertheless, Roxanne admitted that she has been gaining weight ever since her afternoon soap Ligaw Na Bulaklak ended last October 2008. But then there’s nothing to be alarmed about since she is still considerably sexy after all. But then kung wala naman tayong pinaghahandaan ‘di ba hindi naman tayo masyadong [kailangang mag-diet or something],” she explained.
