Ryan Agoncillo not keen on daughter Yohan entering showbiz

Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo have tried to keep adopted daughter Yohan out of the public eye but in the wake of their recent wedding, the young girl became inevitably more visible on TV. Ryan admitted that they would rather not have her exposed to media, but it could not be helped given the circumstances.

“If we could have helped na hindi siya lumabas sa wedding coverage, we would have taken her out of the coverage but she’s such an integral part of the story. Plus the fact na she knew that the camera was on her na ‘pag lumabas ‘yung special at hindi niya nakita ang sarili niya, baka magtampo sa amin at baka dalhin [sa paglaki],” Ryan explained.

Now that Yohan has gotten media exposure, Judai and Ryan are trying their best to properly handle the situation. “There will come a point na baka nga mas maganda na ma-expose pa siya,” Ryan justified. “Para manawa na siya habang bata pa siya,” Judai concluded.

Ryan acknowledged the fact that when the time comes, Yohan will have to decide on her own whether or not to pursue a career in the entertainment industry but for now, they want to ensure that she is shielded from the harsh realities of showbiz. “Sa ngayon, objective of the game is to make sure she is shielded from the bad side of the industry. I mean we all know that this industry can be unkind so dun lang siguro ang consciousness namin sa ngayon, to protect her,” he shared.

The celebrity couple have considered the possibilities that may open up for their daughter now that she is getting attention. They said that they don’t mind if their daughter does a little showbiz as long as she enjoys it and it proves advantageous to her. “If an offer [such as a commercial] comes along, we’ll study it. If it proves to be more on the positive side and more beneficial for her, o ‘di sige kung hindi naman nakakasama. Pero kasi andyan ‘yung pag-iingat more than anything. So we’ll see, we’ll deal with it when the deal is there,” Ryan stressed.

Meanwhile, the couple continue to enjoy married life one month after they tied the knot. Judai shared that they didn’t go through big adjustments now that they’re officially a couple. “Wala naman nagbago. Basically we’ve been together for almost four years before we got married. So I guess, what kept the love alive is because we’re always happy, we’re always laughing and we’re open and very honest with each other,” Judai explained.

Ryan said that it is too early to worry about the possibility of their relationship losing excitement. “We haven’t been married for a long time so I guess we’ll tell you when we get there,” he said laughing. “Pero ‘yun siguro ang advantage ng artista, we can be the master of reinvention, and that’s one thing I’ve been learning. I guess if we want to look like pirates tomorrow just to make it spicier, we can.”
