Enchong Dee joins the cast of Katorse |

Enchong Dee is the new hot leading man who will sizzle up the upcoming teleserye Katorse. In addition to Ejay Falcon and Xian Lim, Enchong will compete for the love of the central character Nene played by Erich Gonzales. ABS-CBN.com interviewed Enchong at the pictorial of Katorse and the young actor expressed his excitement over his return on primetime. “Masaya ako na napasama ako dito. Wish ko talaga kasi na sana for this year magkaroon ng primetime teleserye. Good thing dumating itong Katorse.”
Enchong further talked about how his character will fit in the story of Katorse. “Ako si Jojo na best friend ni Ejay. Sixteen years old siya, mahangin siyang tao. Hindi ko nga matanggap ‘yung kayabangan niya, ha ha ha! Pero nung makilala niya si Nene (played by Erich) magbabago ‘yung ugali niya. Si Nene ‘yung magi-inspire sa kanya na manindigan and to become a better man. Nung mabuntis si Nene dun papasok si Jojo na mag-stand up for her. Kasi sa simula makikita mo si Jojo at ‘yung mga kaibigan niyang sina Ejay at si Xian Lim na magkakasama sila sa kalokohan. Pero nung mabuntis si Nene dun mababago lahat.”
Although he is playing a much younger role, Enchong said that he finds the character of Jojo much easier to portray compared to the ones he had done in the past. “First time for this year mayaman na ‘yung role ko, ha ha ha! Tsaka mas younger ‘yung role ko, 16, compared to last year sa My Girl na about 21 years old. Siguro this time mas madali para sa akin kasi napagdaanan ko na rin ‘yung buhay 16 years old. Inaalala ko lang kung paano ako umasta at mag-isip nung 16 ako.” He added that he was also able to find a common trait between himself and the character of Jojo. “Si Jojo katulad ko rin na may paninindigan. Ako kasi once I become serious with a thing I make sure na I become accountable, responsible with whatever outcome.”
A champion swimmer, Enchong is gifted with a lean physique seen in several ramp shows and billboards. But this time in Katorse, Enchong said that his character won’t be as sexy as that of Ejay and Xian. “Hindi sexy ‘yung character ko dito kaya napapalakas ‘yung kain ko ngayon, ha ha ha! Buti na lang hindi ko masyadong kailangang isipin to stay fit. Hindi ko naman yata kailangang maghubad sa ilang eksena, sina Ejay at Xian na lang ‘yun, ha ha ha!”
Compared to Ejay and Xian, Enchong has had more experience in teleserye after starring in hit dramas My Girl, My Only Hope, and Your Song presents Boystown. Enchong clarified though that more than the alleged competition, there’s so much fun and camaraderie between him, Ejay, and Xian. “Masaya, sabi nga nila the more the merrier. Kahit naman tatlo na kaming boys dito makikita naman na hindi pare-pareho ‘yung characters namin.”
