Toni Gonzaga was Joseph Estrada’s personal choice to play his eldest daughter in his grand movie comeback this year. At the story conference of the film to be produced by Star Cinema, Toni admitted she got star struck when she met the former president for the first time. Ayoko namang kausapin siya about politics, ha ha ha! About the movie lang.” Toni even went into fan mode and her picture taken with the ex-president.
This yet untitled movie project will also star Ai-ai de las Alas as Erap’s wife and Toni’s mother. “First time kong makasama sa movie si Ms. Ai pero nakasama ko na siya dati sa isang sitcom, ‘yung My Juan and Only,” said Toni.
Toni said that she is very excited about her role, which promises to bring lots of laughter. “Ako ‘yung anak nila, nag-iisang babae. Basta rest assured the movie is going to be hardcore comedy pero may puso pa rin.”
While he has not done a movie in years, Erap’s career which has spanned five decades had him appear in a hundred films. He was also a recipient of the FAMAS Hall of Fame for Best Actor honors. Toni revealed that she enjoys watching re-runs of Erap’s films on TV. Malakas talaga ang charisma si Sir Erap, on screen at in person. Matagal nang hindi siya napapanood sa pelikula and this will be the first for all of us to see him act again.”
Toni was fortunate to have worked with Fernando Poe Jr. in the King’s final movie Pakners in 2003.
The upcoming movie will also reunite Toni with leading man Sam Milby. The actress-TV host said that this project will be their gift to fans who made all their past films a hit at the box office. “Masaya kasi reunion namin ni Sam. Marami na rin kasing nagaabang sa amin. We owe our fans din naman a project like this.
The movie will be directed by Ang Tanging Ina director Wenn Deramas.
