A lot of people were amazed by the special treatment that Mommy Dionisia received during her recent visit on ABS-CBN compound. Not only did she meet her favorite stars Willie Revillame and Ruffa Gutierrez, but she also rubbed elbows with no less than the network’s bigwigs including Chairman and CEO Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio, and Channel Head Cory Vidanes among others.
But they were not only the ones who were instantly charmed by Mommy Dionisia’s lovable personality. Even Gov. Vilma Santos expressed her desire to meet the mom of Manny Pacquiao. “I love her! I haven’t met her pero in fact parang naging inspirasyon ko siya dito sa In My Life. Yun bang walang pakialam kung anong sasabihin ng iba. Gagawin niya kung anong gusto niyang gawin. Yung kahit anong gusto nyang sabihin sa pamilya niya...I love her! Gusto ko siya,” she revealed.
Aside from the challenge of portraying a mother role similar to Mommy Dionisia’s character in real life, Vilma further shared that her comeback film demanded only her best as an actress. “Iba si Inang (Direk Olive Lamasan), perfectionist siya. Kung hindi ako nagkakamali parang wala kaming take one, parang pinakmababa namin take two. Natsa-challenge ako kasi in one scene meron siguro kaming dalawa hanggang tatlong version. May isang mababa, mataas ang boses…lahat yun take. Iba-ibang approach ang ginagawa namin.”
Acting truly is a nonstop learning. But despite the struggles that accompany it, Vilma thanks her multitude of fans for inspiring her to be better at her craft. Such is the case whenever she hears accolades from colleagues like Sharon Cuneta and Ai-ai delas Alas who claim to be certified Vilmanians. “In fairness kay Shawie bata pa yun talagang nakaabang yun sa gate sa Dasma, binibigyan ako ng bulaklak, bata pa siya nun. Ang sarap sa isang artista kapag nadidinig mo ‘yan lalo na kapag galing sa co-worker mo sa showbiz. Yun na ang pinaka-adrenaline ko kaya hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin ako. So I’m honored kina Ai-ai,” she stated.
When asked if she would consider going back to acting once she’s finished being a public servant, Vilma revealed that she might work behind the scenes instead. “Hindi ko naman alam na papasok ako sa pulitika. Ang dream ko talaga is to produce and direct a movie. Yun na yung next step ko. Dream ko talagang maging mala-Laurice Guillen, Marilou Diaz-Abaya. Nagpapaturo na nga ako ng mga anggulo. E naging pulitiko ako. Hindi ko pa alam,” she truthfully answered.
