Gabby Concepcion reminisces about his past with Sharon Cuneta |

While there’s still a clamor for Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion to work together again onscreen, it turns out that they will be box office rivals first in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this December. Sharon is slated to do Mano Po 6: My Mother with Regal Films while Gabby’s comeback movie I Love You Goodbye will be Star Cinema’s official entry to the annual film fest.
Meanwhile, Gabby has expressed that he wants to do a project with Sharon and daughter KC Concepcion. “Definitely [I am willing to work with Sharon and KC.] I’m just waiting for the right opportunity,” he said during his Kapamilya Chat last July 24. “Nag-uusap na kami [ni Sharon] hindi katulad noon. That’s why meron kayong naririnig na gagawa kami ng pelikula tapos nagkaroon ako ng guesting sa BFF movie niya at ni Ai-ai (de las Alas.) Everything’s okay and smooth. Hindi katulad years ago nung wala ako. Siyempre merong gap pero ngayon we’re trying to bridge that gap. Excellent actually. This year is a beginning of new change talaga,” he added when asked about his relationship with Sharon nowadays.
Fans had asked during the chat if Dear Heart was his favorite Sharon-Gabby movie, but he revealed that Una Kang Naging Akin is more memorable for him because it was shot at his beach resort in Anilao. The movie around Nick, a wealthy businessman who has amnesia and falls in love with a reclusive painter named Dyosa, not knowing that he’s already engaged. The stars even had a scene where they frolicked on the beach, which prompted ABS-CBN.com to ask if he would still go sexy the way he did in the movie. “Siguro hindi na. Yung pasexy na nagtatatakbo sa beach? Nakakahiya kay KC! Pero kung mala-survivor naman ang concept at hinihingi naman ng sitwasyon pwede pa siguro.”
Gabby also said that he was proud that his daughter is creating a niche of her own. “Kung kanino mas nagmana si KC? Palagay ko pareho kasi una, napakagaling niyang kumanta, malamang sa akin niya nakuha yun… Hindi biro lang, siyempre sa nanay niya. E ako ginagaya ko lang sila [pagdating sa paggawa ng sarili kong album]. Yung hilig sa showbiz sa aming dalawa [ni Sharon niya nakuha]. Ewan ko hindi natin masabi kasi nasa kanya pa rin yun, whether singing or acting, hindi importante kung anak ka ng sino man kasi individuality pa rin ang umiiral dyan,” he stressed.
