John Lloyd Cruz sets the story straight about Sarah Geronimo |

John Lloyd Cruz denied claims that Sarah Geronimo wants him to wait for five years before she can pursue a relationship with him. Lloydy said that this rumor started from a joke from the time he and Sarah were promoting their movie You Changed My Life. “’Yun kasi ang lagi niyang (Sarah) sinasabi na at the age of 25, dun daw siya papayagang magka-boyfriend,” the actor explained. “So, nagsimula sa biru-biruan hanggang sa ngayon meron nang ganyang isyu na kesyo hindi para raw siya pwede at kailangan pang maghintay ng another five years bago siya ligawan. Dun lang nanggaling ‘yon.” The two have been romantically linked after they did two blockbuster movies together.
Lloydy stressed that it is common knowledge that Sarah’s priority is her career. “Alam ng lahat at alam ni Sarah na ang focus naman talaga niya ngayon is her career, alam naman nating lahat ‘yon at alam niya ‘yon to begin with.”
Recently, Sarah shared that fellow singer Mark Bautista is her most persistent suitor and that she is open to the possibility that they might be meant for each other in the future. When asked for his reaction, Lloydy, said that this is none of his business. “Kanila na ‘yon, kumbaga desisyon nila ‘yon. Kung anuman ang gustong gawin ni Mark Bautista sa love life niya, sa career niya, medyo labas tayo dun.”
There had been reports that there would be another sequel for the Sarah-John Lloyd team up, but the actor said that it might take a while before this happens. “’Yun ‘yung plano dati. Pero sa moviemaking, may tinatawag na timing at coordination… so marami ring nagbago. ‘Yung movie baka later part ng 2010,” he said.
Lloydy shared that Star Cinema is planning a Valentine movie for him and Bea Alonzo next year. “As of this time, it’s going be me, Bea and Maricar (Reyes). ‘Yun po ang alam ko but alam n’yo naman ang business na ito puwedeng magbago ‘yan, pwedeng mapalitan at pwedeng hindi na ako kasama. So a lot can happen between now and Valentine’s Day,” he explained.
After portraying a gay guy in his recent movie, In My Life, which also stars Vilma Santos and Luis Manzano, John Lloyd said that it might take a while before he accepts another gay role. While In My Life director Olivia Lamasan has said that she was already planning another movie with a gay character and was thinking of Lloydy for the role, the actor wasn’t too sure about it. “As an actor, it’s my desire to portray different characters. Mas marami [ang characters to portray], at mas malaki ang difference from the last thing that you did, mas okay. Siyempre kagagawa ko lang ng gay character, I cannot picture myself doing another gay character in the near future,” he answered.
