South Korean heartthrob Kim Bum, who played Yi Jeong in the Koreanovela Boys Over Flowers, extended his sympathies to Filipino fans affected by Typhoon Ondoy. A press conference was held at ABS-CBN on October 3 for the star’s product endorsement and an upcoming soap to be aired on ABS-CBN, titled Dream.
Through an interpreter, the young actor said to all Filipino flood victims, “I’m very sorry and it’s a very sensitive topic so I’m very worried for them. But please do not lose your hope and dreams. As an actor I will do my role because that’s what I do (best). I’m doing what I’m doing to make them smile and help them get back on track and God bless them all.”
Kim arrived in the country last Thursday, October 1, to shoot a soft drink commercial with Maja Salvador. Due to the rains, the Korean actor had to stay indoors most of the time but his experience with the Filipino staff during the shoot was very touching for him. Kim said that he was overwhelmed by the warmth and great hospitality. The interpreter also shared that Kim twice mentioned that he wanted to come back to the Philippines and learn more about the culture and the people.
When a member of the press asked if the BOF star was worried about the bad weather in the country, Kim replied that he was more concerned about the manner he was to carry himself around Filipinos. The star admitted that his discomfort soon vanished when he was given a warm reception.
Kim also said that he would be delighted for a chance to join local showbiz, or even make a teleserye here. “He would feel very honored if he gets the opportunity and he’d be very excited because he had a great first time working here during the shoot,” explained his translator. “But it’s not only [because of] work. He’s very willing to come back and experience more of the Philippines with you guys.”
