A slightly feverish Jericho Rosales still managed to arrive at the press launch of his newest album Change under Star Records. According to Jericho, he picked the album title from one of his songs, “Cool Change,” which he likens to the ups and downs of his life. “Maraming changes kasi 'yung nangyari sa akin sa nakaraang dalawang taon, change of music style, changed my label, now I'm with Star. There's just a lot of changes that happened particularly sa sarili ko… Sabi nila kasi dito sa 'tin ngayon, mahal na mahal natin 'yung pag-revive ng songs so I was really thinking of one song to revive. Nung I was in the shower, I heard this song, ‘Cool Change’ and I said, 'Oh, it's about time.’ I listened to the lyrics parang na-realize ko, 'if there's one thing in my life that's missing, it's the time that I spent alone,' 'di ba? Spending time alone is not easy [so I said,] 'Okay, this is the time I'm going to put all my energy to music, all my energy to acting, all the ideas na pumapasok sa isip ko.”
Jericho said that he feels a different kind of excitement with making the album and with doing telenovelas and movies because music is a venue wherein he can express himself even more. “Ito 'yung isang side ko na talagang kadalasan maraming beses na akong nakutusan at bakit ko ba hinihiligan itong music. I really love music. It's my first solo album with Star Records and I'm very happy about this album kasi for the first time nagkasundo kami ni Ms. Annabelle Regalado kasi she's been chasing me for years and years and telling me, 'Come on, let's listen to your songs and original songs.’ Maraming songs dito na napagkasunduan naming lahat. I worked hard for this. In between tapings trinatrabaho ko ito. This is a new thing for me kasi hindi ito about acting or anything. This is about music.”
The press then asked Jericho as to which songs from the album would he dedicate to his ex-girlfriends. Jericho good-naturedly obliged and answered as follows.
Angelika dela Cruz: “’Love Bug’ (originally sung by the Jonas Brothers) na lang kasi she has a newborn baby and I'm sure in a couple of years magugustuhan niya yung ‘Love Bug.’ It's an original song ng Jonas Brothers.”
Kristine Hermosa: “Ang hirap naman nito. ‘Pusong Ligaw’ can be for Kristine Hermosa. Kasi nung nagbalik tambalan kami ni Kristine for the soap (Dahil May Isang Ikaw), they asked me if I can sing one song para sa soap. This particular song, medyo lumang kanta ko na siya na sinulat and ni-rewrite ko and I think they're going to use the song para sa soap namin. This song is about a person who's a little bit lost and he does not know. I so love this song kasi hindi lang pwedeng kantahin sa isang tao. You could sing it to your god [as well].”
Cindy Kurleto: “Wala po akong German song dito, eh. She would like ‘Change the World’ because medyo character niya yun eh. Medyo funky ng konti yung babae na yun, eh. Si Cindy rin kasi medyo concerned sa environment 'yun eh tsaka about changing the world.”
Heart Evangelista: “There's actually one song that I wrote for her here in this album it's called ‘I Love Your Way.’ This is a song na medyo sinulat ko ng impromptu and kinanta ko sa birthday niya a couple of years ago.”
