Ruffa Gutierrez confirmed that she and Shaina Magdayao have finally talked and clarified that neither of them was responsible for the explicit text messages that both had been receiving. “Actually it was (Star Magic executives) Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) and Tita Mariole (Alberto), who mediated. They said na bago lumala at lumabas sa dyaryo, it’s better siguro na magharap-harap kayo para you can talk and you can see kung sino ang nagpapadala ng nasty messages,” Ruffa explained at the press conference of Century Properties’ project launching of Azure Urban Resort Residences, where Ruffa, together with Piolo Pascual, are the endorsers.
The actress-host previously posted on her Twitter account that she had been receiving text messages containing accusations, which allegedly came from Shaina. “Hindi lang ako ang nakakatanggap, nakakatanggap din pala siya (Shaina),” Ruffa revealed. “We just wanted to know na hindi sa amin nanggaling ‘yung nasty messages.” Ruffa’s and Shaina's being romantically linked to John Lloyd Cruz supposedly sparked the trouble between them.
“We really had a nice, calm talk," Ruffa said about her talk with Shaina. "Maraming naliwanagan and marami kaming bagay na napag-usapan.” The actress-host, however, refrained from revealing any details. “Siyempre private na ‘yon. Ang importante walang problema, I mean there’s no reason for us to have any conflict or whatsoever. The atmosphere was serious, quiet, very calm. You know just clearing of issues.”
The actress-host said that she suspects that a third party is responsible for the unpleasant text messages in order to create a rift between them. “We just really have to be aware in this industry, or in this world [that] there are people that want to hurt others and want others to feel bad and want to create problems and intrigues… Ang importante in the end, it was not her. So ayun, tapos na, wala naman talagang issue.”
When asked if she knew about John Lloyd’s reaction on this matter, Ruffa replied, “I don’t want to discuss him.”
