Aside from bagging the championship title along with his teammates, Purefoods’ James Yap found far more exciting reasons to celebrate last night. To his whole family’s delight, the basketball superstar had received his very first “Best Player of the Conference” award, alongside his yet another “Most Valuable Player” title.

In an exclusive interview with Showbiz News Ngayon, James gladly shared his thrill to have finally achieved the said merit. And with great humility, he dedicated the said achievement to his whole family who had always supported him, most specifically to his late mother-in-law President Cory Aquino whom he had referred to as his “number 1 fan.” With great respect he uttered, “Dine-dedicate ko ‘tong award na ‘to sa mother-in-law ko kasi siya talaga ang number 1 fan ko... I’m sure sobrang happy siya ngayon.”

In a separate interview, on the other hand, even James’ wife Kris Aquino couldn’t contain her excitement with regard to her husband’s accomplishment. She said that the event simply left her pretty emotional since it is in fact a momentous one for their whole family. And in line with celebratory occasion, she even blurted out that she had actually ordered a very special gift for her husband immediately after they got home.
