Gretchen Barretto said that she has partner Tony Boy Conjuangco’s blessing to make her showbiz comeback. In fact, he is even encouraging her. “He keeps on rooting for me. Lagi niyang sinasabi parati, ‘Go, I want you to work. I want you to feel good.’ Kasi siyempre if I feel good about myself and my work, I feel happy. Alam naman niya na eto ‘yung pinakagusto ko. Alam niya I’m happiest when I’m working,” Gretchen related.

The actress is also not worried about Tony Boy getting jealous of Derek Ramsay, whom Gretchen will work with in her upcoming teleserye. “Alam naman ni Tony, kahit anong mangyari hindi ko naman siya iiwan, eh. Alam naman niya ‘yon. Alam niya naughty-naughty ako minsan pero alam niya good girl ako ngayon,” she said followed with a laugh.

When asked if she is ready for the intrigues now that she has decided to resume a career in show business, Gretchen replied, “Hindi ko alam kung ready ako. Ang intriga parating nandiyan. Ang alam ko lang hindi mako-control ang iisipin o ang sasabihin ng tao. Ang mako-control ko lang kung ano ang ire-react ko and how I’m going to feel about it.

“As long as hindi masisira ang pagtatrabaho ko, focus pa rin sa pagtatrabaho ko, ibibigay ko pa rin para sa publiko at para sa mga bosses ng ABS-CBN ‘yung Gretchen, the best of Gretchen, and I realize that.” She also assumed a more optimistic stance because she believes that the more problems she will encounter, the luckier she will get. “The more na parang pinu-pull down ako, lalo akong sinusuwerte lalo akong inspired lumaban in a good way, in a positive way.”  

One of her major concerns right now is the adjustment of spending less time with her daughter Dominique since she will start taping for her teleserye soon. “She’s also excited na magtatrabaho na ako although sometimes dahil lately parati akong wala sa bahay sinasabi niya, ‘Mom you didn’t come home early.’ Medyo nagko-complain so ang dinadasal ko naku sana masanay ito kasi kung three times akong magti-taping hanggang umaga, sana huwag magbisyo.”

And as far as Dominique joining showbiz is concerned, Gretchen said that her daughter is showing no interest of doing just that.
