Ipinagmalalaki ni Boy Abunda ang bago nilang kasama ni Kris Aquino sa “The Buzz” bilang host na si KC Concepcion. Hindi mapigilan ni Kuya Boy na bigyan ng papuri si KC sa una nitong paglabas sa “The Buzz” last Sunday. “I’m so proud when she did the Andi Eigenmann, ang gagaling ng mga follow-ups niya. ‘Yung iba nandudu’n ‘yung.. and she was saying, ‘Tito, will I depend on a cue card or an idiot board.’ Sabi ko ask for whatever you comfortable with. It’s about what your comfortable with,” panimula ni Kuya Boy.
Very honest na nagkwento si Kuya Boy na tinulungan niya si KC bago sumalang sa kanyang first interview sa “The Buzz.” “I created a syllabus just for her. Meaning, nag-plano kami kung . . . she’s a fast learner. She’s a student talaga. Kaya ang ginawa ko nu’ng isang gabi pinuntahan ko talaga siya sa kanyang pictorial. Isinulat ko kumbaga, crash course ‘no. Tips on doing ‘The Buzz’ and other things. Tapos binigyan ko ng CDs between nine to ten containing the best interviews like for example, andun ‘yung,kasi ang ano ni KC, hindi naman problema, sinasabi niya, ‘Tito, I’m coming from being the subject, being the guest and now I will be interviewing. So, how will I do that?’
“Sabi ko sa kanya, panoorin mo ’yung Oscars special ni Oprah kung saan ginawa niya pinapag-usap niya ang mga artista. Like si Penelope Cruz kay Hale Berry, Matt Damon and another one, Ben Affleck and another artista, Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Sabi ko panoorin mo, watch the tapes intently para makita mo ang dynamics kapag artista ang nagiinterbyu sa kapwa artista. I also provided her the Oprah-Barbara Walters interview when Barbara was doing the promo of ‘Audition,’ the book. So, in other words the girl is a learner, you know. Hindi ito ‘yung papasok na ganu’n lang. I was very affront.
“Sabi ko, it’s a whole new dimension to your career. Hindi mo pipilitin, ay, you are an entirely different case. Hindi, bawas, you know you have to create a different stance. A little lang, hindi ka pwedeng mag-giggle ng parang kapag naggi-guest ka. Don’t giggle too much and she did it. I’m proud of her. And of course, the whole trick of the interviewing business, listen. Also, doon sa briefing ko sa kanya it’s not bad to mark, don’t memorize. To mark, this is what I plan to do in the opening segment, but listen. It’s the management’s call.” Agree naman si Boy nani-adjust ang ilang konspeto ng show para kay KC. “Palagay ko tama lang ‘yun kasi if it is a talk show, i-adjust mo ‘yung materyal sa bata. Like for example, they’re very frank like doon sa POV, hindi muna. It should be POV with Boy and Kris. But uh, the interviews with the likes of Andi Eigenmann, Erich Gonzales, that belongs to her. Halimbawa ‘yung ah, if there will be invitations in the future to do junkets, that’s her. Halimbawa, ‘yung mga bagets like ‘New Moon,’ yung mga ganu’n. “Ah, ‘yung things that we used to do. And excited lang ako kasi continuity ng trabaho namin. ‘Yung parang ten years from now, kasi ang artista you see more or less the generational stages ‘no. But ang host, hindi, e. So, you see a new level of, parang ang iniisip ko ngayon, ‘Wow, watch her in five years.”
Bakit isang babae ulit ang kinuha nilang bagong host ng “The Buzz?”. “I also don’t know. Maybe because it’s easier to watch a girl, parang ganu’n. Oh, I really don’t know kasi napaka-discriminatory kung manggagaling sa akin. I have no idea because I would welcome a boy, girl, gay or anyone.”
