Jessy Mendiola feels privileged that she got to work with her idol Judy Ann Santos on Your Song Presents: Gimik 2010, which will air on Sunday, April 25. This was not Jessy’s first time to work with the young superstar though, because she once made a guest appearance on Judai’s now defunct show George and Cecil. Jessy also revealed that she was supposed to appear in Habang May Buhay but was later pulled out to be on Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo instead.
The young actress described how the Teleserye Queen was very supportive of her and her fellow newcomers during shoot of Gimik 2010. “Sinasabihan niya ako, ‘Okay lang ‘yan, kaya mo ‘yan.’ May mga advice siya. She’s really good. Ang galing talaga tapos bigla na lang siyang makikipag-usap and to think she’s been in showbiz for more than 20 years, but she’s really humble.”
Aside from Judy Ann, some of the members of the original cast of Gimik will also be part of the Gimik 2010, namely Mylene Dizon, G. Toengi, Bojo Molina, and Diether Ocampo.
In the meantime, Jessy said that she did not feel bad that her Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo character Christina was pulled out of the show. She is hoping though that she could return to the teleserye soon. “KTM (Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo) really opened a lot of doors for me. And I can’t deny na it really helped a lot. And si Coco (Martin) bilang co-actor at co-worker, sobrang galing niya sobrang bait. I learned a lot from him and siyempre mami-miss ko ‘yung show, ‘yung staff, and the people there, si Coco especially.”
She added that she had prepared herself for the removal of her character from the series. “It’s really fine with me, I know naman sooner or later it will happen na they will take out the character, if not for good maybe for a while.” Jessy shared in a previous interview that she was supposed to appear only for a week, but her stay got extended because of her successful team-up with Coco. She is also hoping that they will get the chance to work again in the future. “I don’t know if they will put me back or not so let’s just hope for the best na if hindi ako ibabalik sa KTM, sa ibang project.”
