Gretchen Barretto welcomed ABS-CBN.com to the set of Magkaribal last June 2. She shared that she is always in a good mood when she is working on the teleserye because of the good vibes she feels with her co-stars. She also loves the glam surrounding the story of Magkaribal. “[We are taping] the Vera versus Victoria scene, Vera is Angel Aquino and Victoria is me, ito yung rampahan na labanan kung sinong mananalo. Every week kasi pinagusapan namin dapat laging may pasabog. Enjoy na enjoy ko, nandiyan yung energy na gusto ko, yung energy sa modeling kapag bago ka lumabas sa ramp, the loud music, the applause, gustong-gusto ko yun. Pati yung gulo sa backstage, kasi ‘di ba sa live lang nangyayari yun. Kapag taping walang ganyan.”

Her love scene with Derek Ramsay is one of the most-awaited scenes in Magkaribal. During the interview, she admitted that she felt tense the first time they taped it. “Ang nangyari dun hindi pa kasi kami masyadong close nung first day. Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Baka hindi mo ako kaya? Hindi loko lang.’ Sabi ni Derek, ‘Anong gagawin natin?’ Ako naman sabi ko, ‘Sige ako na ang bahala, ako na ang bahala,’ then walang nangyari sa akin, parang nag-freeze ako nung nag-take. Ang lakas niya [kasi. I told him], ‘You’re a strong man!’”

In a separate interview with Derek, he revealed that they both needed the help of alcohol to boost their confidence. “It was a bed scene na steamy and aggressive. So napainom talaga kami. Si Greta ‘pag pinatay na ang ilaw tatalikuran niya ako and then [biglang haharap] and would say, ‘Okay, I am Victoria now,’ I said, ‘Okay, kailangan kong tapatan ito.’ Ang ganda ng kinalabasan ng eksena, pero hindi yata pwede pang TV,” Derek joked.

Gretchen said that she really is the type of actress who rehearses how she will project in front of the camera. She can easily switch from Gretchen to her character. “Aba, kailangan talaga ni-rehearse rehearse ko yang mga [scenes]. Trained talaga ako. Although nung taping last Monday, which was a big scene, andaming drama and all, napansin ko, kapag galing ka sa dressing room na masaya [kayo ng mga kapwa artista mo], ang hirap mag-emote and ang hirap mag-focus,” Gretchen said.
