Seeing her parents reunited on screen during the taping of the two-part episode of Sharon last night was definitely a dream come true for KC Concepcion. Aside from promoting the movie I’ll Be There, it was a rare chance for Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta to sit down and talk like old friends in front of a cheering audience. But personally, hindi ko siya tinitignan as a showbiz event. Alam mo yung parang may celebration. I didn’t know that it’s going to be that way,” said KC in an interview with several ABS-CBN reporters right after the show.
The fact that Gabby and Sharon could easily joke about their romantic past further surpassed her expectations on this one-of-a-kind family reunion of sorts. “Para silang may sariling mundo ‘di ba? Kaya nga sabi ko kay Ninang Zsa-Zsa (Padilla, who co-hosted the show), ‘Ninang dun tayo sa gilid. Hayaan muna natin silang mag-usap!’
KC further shared that Gabby was a bit nervous especially when he sang their movie’s theme song for the opening number. “Oo naka-take three yata kami.
But in spite of her father’s funny antics, KC couldn’t help but be moved to tears with the knowledge that they were once a happy family. “Siyempre ito yung hinihintay mo ‘di ba? All my life, since nagkahiwalay sila, siyempre gusto mo lang na magkasama sila.
When asked about Sharon’s reaction when she got emotional during the show, KC paused for a bit before she carefully answered, “Siguro safe naman sabihin na ayaw niya magpaapekto kasi kahit love life, or kahit anything na maiyak ako, naiiyak siya.
Given what her parents’ went through in the past, it’s certainly not easy to get hold of their rollercoaster emotions which is why the three of them still can’t do a movie together at this point of time. Kasi medyobig deal talaga yung kaming tatlo, baka hindi namin matapos yung pelikula,” she simply stated.
Catch Sharon, Gabby, and KC for the first time together on TV via Sharon’s special two-part episode on June 11 and June 19.
