While many thought it would never happen, ex screen love team and real-life couple Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion reunited on national television on a special two-part episode of the Megastar’s talk show ‘Sharon.’  But instead of tension, fun filled the set as KC watched her parents side by side on the couch catching up on each other while audiences, mostly die-hard Sharon-Gabby fans since the 80’s, had the blast seeing to two together again.  Joining in as guest co host was Sharon’s best friend and KC godmother Zsa Zsa Padilla.

It was obvious through Sharon’s smile and action that she is now at peace with the newfound friendship she has with Gabby.  She had said in previous interviews, following Gabby’s return to Philippine showbiz in 2008, that all is well now between her and former husband. She also admitted that they have been in communication for quite some time now, but they would rather keep it away from the prying public. During the show, there were moments when the Megastar would be quiet, like she is not used to be teased to her ex and knowing that people will be watching on TV. For Sharon, what’s more important is that she and Gabby are now both happy with their respective new families other than just simply pleasing the public.

Sharon and Gabby mostly kept quiet, so KC initiated the talk by sharing stories about her parents. KC revealed that while shooting a movie back in the early 80’s, Sharon and Gabby would talk using two-way radios and used the code ’10-20’ for ‘I love you.’  A few years later, KC would be born at the time 10:20. KC also talked about the times when her mother would allow her to spend a few days with her dad. Gabby and the little KC would explore the beach in Anilao, Batangas and bond like any parent and child would.

Following Sharon and Gabby’s split in 1987, KC was raised mainly by her mother.  But despite the bitter breakup of the marriage, Sharon still honored Gabby as the father of her child.  KC revealed on the talk show, “Wala siyang (Sharon) sinabing masama about you (Gabby) nung lumalaki ako.”  Gabby expressed his happiness and said to Sharon, “Ang galing galing nga. Thank you very much.”  All that the Megastar could say was, “Welcome” with a big smile.

In 1994, Gabby left showbiz and resided in the US.  For 13 years, KC and Gabby missed each other, and when the daughter turned 21, she called up her father and asked for a meet.  Gabby received a call, and upon hearing a voice on the phone, he said, ‘Is this my baby?’  They finally met on the airport, and seeing her father from afar, KC screamed in excitement, “Papa! Why do we look like each other?!’  She explained, “Malaking bagay ‘yun na nakikita mo talagang kadugo mo siya, kapamilya mo siya, tatay mo siya.  Nakikita ko ‘yung hitsura ko sa kanya, may koneksyon na nagaganap na hindi mo mahahanap sa ibang lugar.”  Now the two could not believe that they were able to star together in a movie, I’ll Be There which is produced by Star Cinema.
