Jericho Rosales is Guillermo Awardee for Most Promising Recording Artist |

Jericho Rosales felt overwhelmed after he was awarded the Most Promising Recording Artist title by the Guillermo Awards last Tuesday, June 22. For him, the trophy symbolizes all his hard work he put into his music. "Sobrang sarap ng feeling. Masaya ako kasi kinilala yung pagiging musikero ko sa recording. More than anything I am glad na nabigyan ng pansin yung pagkaseryoso ko, kalahati kasi ng puso ko nandiyan sa musika. Parang it is a good signal for me para magpatuloy pa sa music, sa recording, sa pagsulat. At nung lumipat ako sa Star Records, nag-launch kami ng original song ko as the first single ng bagong album ko sa Star which is Change and I mean to me it is a blessing na nag-hit yung ‘Pusong Ligaw,’ and people liked it. Parang naiisip pa nga nilang gawin na [theme song] sa mga movie."
His passion and love for music will always fuel him to work harder. "Marami akong sinakripisyo para sa music, so malaking pasasalamat ko talaga sa Guillermo Awards. I don't really work for the awards or para sa mga tropeyo. I learned that from KC Concepcion. She told me na kailangan sundin mo lang yung puso mo sa lahat ng ginagawa mo."
He then remembered ex-girlfriend Heart Evangelista since she was the inspiration for “Pusong Ligaw.” He realized how the time has flown fast as they both have their own lives now. "Sinulat ko kasi yung ‘Pusong Ligaw’ kami pa noon. She was there nung mga turbulent yung mga pangyayari sa buhay ko at sa biyahe ko, nandun siya nun. Isa siya sa mga taong nandun para sa akin."
He also surprised people at the awards ceremonies when he arrived with his girlfriend, SNN correspondent Cesca Litton, since Echo has not fully opened up about their relationship. "If I may say a little thing… it was a special night for me and siyempre niyaya ko siya na sumama sa 'kin, kasi that's my, technically, second trophy na matatanggap ko pagdating sa music. And I did not expect na dudumugin kami dun, nahiya nga ako sa kanya e. I was very happy and thankful. Masaya yung gabi."
For now, he will continue to keep mum about his relationship with Cesca. He wants to enjoy his privacy. "I always say naman I have a relationship with someone, yun nga lang yung mga ibang bagay sa amin na lang para at least pag-uwi ko sa bahay at pagkatapos ng trabaho meron akong para sa sarili ko."
