Coco Martin said that he’s really thrilled about his team-up with Sarah Geronimo in Idol because a lot of people have already noticed their unexpected chemistry based on the trailers alone. But he refused to be romantically linked to the Popstar Princess for fear that it would only cause conflict for them on the set. “Siyempre masaya at nakakatuwa na ganon, pero yung mabigyan ng malisya, yun ang iniiwasan namin. Alam ni’yo naman si Sarah, isang parang basong babasagin na dapat pag-ingatan. E ngayon maayos po kaming magtrabaho. Huwag na nating pag-usapan dahil baka magkaroon lang ng issue,” he pleaded with ABS-CBN.com and other reporters during a press visit on the set of the much-awaited musical drama.

The critically-acclaimed actor admitted, however, that it’s possible for him to develop feelings for Sarah since he finds her innocent charm very attractive. But he is aware how protective Sarah’s parents can be and he doesn’t want to ruin the good rapport that he has with them as well. “Bakit naman hindi? Kumbaga Sarah Geronimo ‘yan. Nakita mo naman kung gaano kabuti at kabait sa akin yung mga magulang niya. Pero siyempre bata pa si Sarah at marami pang pangarap para sa kanya ang mga magulang niya,” he stressed.

When asked if he easily gets discouraged by a girl’s strict parents, Coco was quick to say that he’s actually the type who fights for the one he loves even against all odds. “Siyempre kung mahal mo ang isang tao, kahit ano pa yung humaharang diyan, ipaglalaban mo. Madami na akong na-experience na ganyan. Hahaha! Kasi ako kapag nagmahal, hindi lang todo, kahit hanggang kamatayan ’yan. Pero siyempre depende kung yun talaga yung tingin mo makakatuluyan mo.”

While Coco is single, he would prefer to have a non-showbiz girlfriend since pursuing someone from the business would only make the relationship complicated. “Wala naman akong standard o ano. Basta gusto ko yung simple. Kaya nga sabi ko hangga’t maaari ayaw ko muna ng artista e. Kung anong meron at nandiyan at napupusuan ko, ‘di yun. Kaya lang wala pa rin akong nakilala sa ngayon dahil palaging busy. Pero ’di bale, madali na lang yun,” he beamed.
