Despite all the troubles that she’s dealing with right now, Kris Aquino still made the effort to attend the surprise children’s party for her Pilipinas Win Na Win co-host Pokwang at Dad’s Place in Quezon City last August 25. As a matter of fact, she was one of the early guests together with sons Josh and Baby James. They even posed at the photo booth and signed up for face-painting while waiting for the birthday girl. Kris didn’t mind that all eyes were on her, but the entertainment media respected her wishes not to answer the issues about her marital status as well as those concerning her brother, President Noynoy Aquino.

But before the night ended, Kris agreed to do a quick interview just to give a birthday message for Pokwang whom she considers one of her closest friends in the biz. “I found a true friend in her kaya sana lifelong talaga yung friendship [naming]. Secondly, I really pray for her career na tuloy-tuloy ang blessings [at] yung movie na ginagawa niya ngayon kasama si Erich (Gonzales) at si Enchong (Dee) maging big hit. At siyempre sana dumating na yung tamang pag-ibig sa buhay mo (referring to Pokwang). At dahil diyan, iyo na itong rose quartz (the necklace that Kris was wearing at the party) ko. I love you, Pokie,” she exclaimed.

Kris apparently helped Mariel Rodriguez organize the whole event for Pokwang. “Si Mariel ang nakaisip talaga kasi sabi niya never na-experience ni Pokie talaga na magkaroon ng children's party. So ginusto namin talaga na magkaron siya ng bonggang children's party na may mga booth, may parlor, tapos may face-painting and body art, popcorn corner, plus may magic show at puppet show. Si Mariel ang gumastos nito. Kahit wala siya ngayon inasikaso niya talaga yung catering tapos sa akin ang entertainment. Because we love you Pokie!”

Kris was also quick to defend Pokwang from rumors that the latter has become arrogant due to her fame. She was really concerned with all the negative feedback that the comedienne-host has been getting lately. “Sana more people would really see her true self kasi [si Pokwang talagang] maalaga, maaalalahanin. Twice a week siya nagdadala ng pagkain [sa backstage]. Yung alam niyang paborito ko ginagawan niya ng paraan talaga. She's just so genuine. At nakikita ko sa kanya na pa-grow ng pa-grow yung talent so sana ma-show ng ABS-CBN yung angking galing niya.”
