Are Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson on good terms?
by Rachelle Siazon | August 29, 2010 2:32 AM |

Fresh from their series of shows in the U.S., controversial onscreen couple Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson were launched as two of the newest endorsers of Chowking at Plaza Ibarra last August 26. People have been speculating about their supposed breakup for several months now, but the two managed to avoid further intrigues by not giving any interviews to the local press after the main program. But from the looks of it, the two seemed to be on good terms as Gerald was attentive to Kim all throughout the event while the young actress didn’t appear awkward to be seen with him again. Gerald was recently romantically linked to Bea Alonzo who, incidentally, is also one of the new endorsers of the same fast food restaurant. But the latter failed to show up at the press launch due to a previous engagement.

But despite the controversies surrounding their team-up, both Kim and Gerald happily rehashed their life before they joined the biz and how their personal struggles inspired their journey to stardom. “Pinaka-challenging para sa akin yung pinagdaanan ko nung bata ako, yung family ko nagkagulo, nagkahiwalay yung parents ko, tapos hindi ko alam kung nasaan yung mom ko. And ngayon yung dad ko nasa ibang bansa naman. So parang natutunan ko na nand’yan lola ko for me,” said Kim without any trace of bitterness.

The young actress even shared her experience of having no permanent home or school for several years because of her family’s difficult situation. “Kasi kamag-anak ko yung nagpapaaral sa akin. So kung sino tita ko ang nagpapaaral sa amin, dun kami pumupunta para mabantayan nila kami ng mga kapatid ko. Kung saan-saan ako umabot sa Luzon, Vizayas, Mindanao. Grade 6 sa Cebu, first year high school sa Gensan, second year sa Mindoro tapos nag-Cagayan De Oro. Hanggang sa umabot ako ulit ng Cebu. Tapos dun na ako nakasali saPBB (Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition),” she beamed.

Apparently, living in different places was something Kim and Gerald have in common as the latter talked about his own growing up years. Looking back, he could hardly believe that he would be enjoying the kind of success that he has right now. “I was born here sa Pinas tapos tumira ako sa States for a couple of years, tapos bumalik sa probinsiya sa Gensan.” He was once a back-up dancer for Joross Gamboa who, in turn, encouraged him to join showbiz. “The rest was history. Parang the next day nasa TV na ako and now nandito na ako sa Chowking press con. So hindi mo talaga alam kung anong pwedeng mangyari sa ’yo. Everything happens so fast. You just have to have faith and aim high.”

There’s no doubt that both Kim and Gerald have been blessed given all the hard work and sacrifices they have to make for the sake of their respective families and careers. “Yung makita ako sa TV siyempre malaking success na yun. Yung tinutulungan ko yung pamilya ko and mag-invest sa mga dreams ko ganyan. Kasi parang for me, nand’yan na siya e, so huwag mo bibitawan, aalagaan mo yun,” Kim stated.
