ABS-CBN’s year-end trade launch proved to be the most sensational ever as ASAP ’08 stars provided maximum entertainment to all advertisers and other guests at the SMX Convention Center last November 25. Dubbed as “Bagong Simula,” the show opened with a scintillating sneak peek of the Maalaala Mo Kaya Christmas episodes (including the much-awaited Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales reunion and one episode starring Judy Ann Santos) and all the upcoming 2009 shows.
Everyone was then treated to a medley performance of Kapamilya stars including the Coverboys, Sam Milby, Anne Curtis, Maja Salvador, Billy Crawford, Nikki Gil, Erik Santos, Rachelle Ann Go, Christian Bautista, Sheryn Regis, and Yeng Constantino. Even the corporate crowd couldn’t help but scream whenever their celebrity crushes would come down the stage to interact with them.
The hottest dance number belonged to Cristine Reyes (soon to be seen as Eva Fonda) who m ade the male audience go wild as she teased them with her sexy casual ensemble. At the end of her performance, she even took off her white shirt, much to the shock of the crowd.
Soon after that, a full trailer of Tayong Dalawa was shown for the first time, accompanied by the duet of Christian and Rachelle Ann who sang the teleserye’s theme. Some members of the cast who graced the stage were Alessandra de Rossi, Jake Cuenca, Mylene Dizon, Agot Isidro, Helen Gamboa, Miguel Faustmann, Jiro Manio, and Coco Martin. Lead stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson gave a pre-recorded video message since they are currently on a promo tour in Canada.
Making the event more special was the re-launch of Judy Ann Santos and Derek Ramsay’s much-awaited teleserye now called Habang May Buhay. This was quickly followed by the presentation of the complete superhero-cast of Mars Ravelo’s Komiks Presents Sanlakas featuring Lastikman (Vhong Navarro), Kapitan Boom (Jon Avila), Varga (Mariel Rodriguez), Tiny Tony (John Prats), Dragona (Shaina Magdayao), and Flash Bomba (Luis Manzano). Super Inggo star Makisig Morales was also there to promote Utoy, the teleserye where he stars opposite Comedy King Dolphy.
Comedians Pokwang, Pooh, and Kim Idol had the audience in stitches with a hilarious game show spoof entitled Wow Wheel Deal or No Deal Pinoy Bingo Night. Some members of the audience also had their chance to shine when they danced with the sexy stars of Banana Split in the latter part of the show.
