 Fans of Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa are in for a big treat this Saturday, December 6. The reel and real life ex-couple will reunite on the small screen for an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya, their first project together in five years. During the farewell press conference of his latest teleserye Kahit Isang Saglit, Jericho talked about the experience of working once again with his ex-girlfriend.
“Nabuhay ang mga memories, ang dami niyang kinuwento sa akin. I’m excited for the both of us. Nag-shake hands pa nga kami, sabi ko, ‘Let’s work.’ (laughs) Natuwa ako kasi nakita ko na she’s more mature now. Napagkukwentuhan namin ‘yung past. Tawa kami nang tawa sa set, pinagtatawanan namin ‘yung mga away namin dati, mga kalokohan. It’s a good thing,” he said. Jericho and Kristine became a couple when they were paired up for the phenomenal teleserye Pangako Sa ‘Yo, but their relationship didn’t last that long. More recently, Jericho came from a much-publicized breakup with Heart Evangelista while Kristine and Diether Ocampo, a good friend of Jericho’s, called it quits after years of being together.
Jericho said that he was happy that they were able to recapture the onscreen chemistry that their fans love. “The chemistry is still very much there. Dati tinatanong ko rin sa sarili ko if it will work [working again together.] Since may excitement pa rin sa akin, ganun din sa kanya. When we were taping tinitingnan namin ‘yung mga tao sa paligid namin. Direk Jerry [Sineneng] was our director and he won’t lie to you. It was a good sign that it will work.” Jericho even blushed when asked how he felt when he did a kissing scene with Kristine for the said MMK episode. “Hindi kami makapag-kiss, hindi kami makapag-concentrate kasi natatawa kami. Siyempre first day of taping at first time naming magkaka-trabaho after five years tapos maghahalikan kami agad. Pero one take lang ‘yun. Panoorin niyo na lang (laughs).”
In Kahit Isang Saglit, Jericho was paired with Malaysian actress-model Carmen Soo and it wasn’t too long before rumors of a romance began to spread. Given his good working relationship with his two leading ladies, Jericho was asked if he has plans of courting either Kristine or Carmen, but the actor immediately dismissed the idea. “Si Kristine kagagaling lang niya sa breakup at ayoko namang manghimasok. Para sa akin hindi maganda ‘yun. Carmen naman has been single for a year but it is still too early for me to say kung anong pwedeng mangyari. Ayoko rin namang i-commit ‘yung sarili ko, to court someone para lang masabing may relationship ako. Now I really just want to feel kung paano maging single, hangga’t kaya ko (laughs).”
