Ruffa Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama happily reported that Eddie Gutierrez’s heart operation has been a success and he is already on his way to recovery. Last Monday, the famous Gutierrez clan was shook when patriarch, Eddie, was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital to undergo an angioplasty procedure. Ruffa immediately texted relatives and close friends to pray for the success of her dad’s operation.
Annabelle was also in tears when interviewed by The Buzz in the hospital. “Sinabi ko kay Ruffa ang nangyari. Nag-iyakan kami lahat kasi sabi ng doctor sa akin serious yung heart ni Eddie.” Annabelle also admitted that she was very anxious for she couldn’t imagine life without her husband. “’Eduardo,’ sabi ko ‘ako na mauna, huwag lang ikaw. Hindi ko talaga kaya.”
Eddie was operated on last Tuesday and checked out of the hospital Friday to rest and recover at home. “Second life ko na ito. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng sumuporta sa amin. Sa lahat ng nagdasal. Sa pamilya ko who stood beside me all this time,” Eddie said to reporters who greeted him as he was wheeled out of the hospital. Annabelle again cried, even saying that she’s very thankful to her son Richard, who footed the hospital bill without them even asking for his help.
During the live interview though of Ruffa and Annabelle on The Buzz yesterday, the latter recounted how she knew of Eddie’s heart condition in a recent trip to Thailand. She said that the doctor there talked to her privately and told her of Eddie’s illness. Annabelle shared that she locked herself up in the bathroom and cried non-stop. She also revealed that her sibling, who was a doctor, told her signs she should look out for should Eddie feel a little off. When Eddie complained that day that he felt dizzy and vomited a lot, Annabelle immediately rushed him to St. Luke’s.She said she almost had a nervous break down when the doctor told her that Eddie can undergo either a heart bypass or an angioplasty procedure. Annabelle also added that Eddie later revealed that he has been keeping the illness to himself for the past year and a half. She also felt that a guardian angel was looking after her husband for Eddie was supposed to be in Subic taping an episode for a show but his call time was moved to a later hour.
Ruffa, on the other hand, tried to remain strong for her mom and siblings. The host/actress said that they were all together through good times and bad times. She described her dad as the kindest man she has ever known. “We need him in our lives. He’s a wonderful, kind dad. We love him very much. Wala siyang bad bone sa kanyang body.”
And although tearful, Annabelle still managed to make everyone laugh with her last statement regarding women who keep on texting her husband. “’Wag mo na silang papansinin yung mga nag-tetext sa iyo na love-love, manahimik na kayo, bruha ka ha…ang asawa ko maysakit at ngayong buhay na buhay na, babalik ka nanaman. Eduardo, ako lang talaga ang mahalin mo wala nang iba!”
