Kaye Abad finds new friends in her Precious Hearts Romances co-stars |

Kaye Abad shared that the friendships she has established with her co-stars in the afternoon teleserye Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers is reminiscent of what she had with her Tabing-Ilog co-stars years ago. Tabing-Ilog was the successful weekly TV series that ran from 1999 to 2003.
“Ine-explain ko sa kanila na last kong na-feel ‘yon [kind of friendship] sa Tabing-Ilog pa. Ngayon nakahanap ako ng ganon ulit,” she beamed. “Sina Mariel (Rodriguez), Valerie (Concepcion), Ahron (Villena), Will (Devaughn)… lahat sila. Sila ‘yung nakakasama ko ngayon.”
Kaye explained that her fellow Tabing-Ilog alums have long since established different lives, so they do not meet as often as they used to. “Kasi may kanya-kanya na silang buhay, ‘di ba? Si Jodi (Santamaria) may anak na.” Tabing-Ilog’s cast also included John Lloyd Cruz, Baron Geisler, Patrick Garcia, Paolo Contis, Desiree del Valle, and Paula Peralejo.
The last time that they saw each other was in March for a grand reunion which John Lloyd and Paolo failed to attend because of busy schedules. “Si Paolo ang napaka-busy na kahit text na hindi sinasagot. May trabaho siya though ini-schedule siya one month before,” she said of her co-star, who is now with the rival network. “Hindi lang mga artista kundi mga directors, mga AD (assistant directors), ‘yung mga naging EP (executive producers) namin dumating.”
In Bud Brothers, Kaye did her first kissing scene with leading man Guji Lorenzana. “’Yun talaga ‘yung una nilang sinabi. Napapayag ako dahil kay Direk Cathy (Garcia-Molina) kasi alam ko naman na hindi ako pababayaan ni Direk Cathy,” she explained. She said that she was happy with the result because it was done in good taste. “First kissing scene ko ‘yun onscreen after 15 years.”
For her next project, Kaye revealed that she is taping for the upcoming adaptation of the Mexican teleserye Rubi with Angelica Panganiban in the title role. Kaye will play the young aunt of Rubi. Kaye’s last series was 2007’s Super Inggo and the actress had a brief guest appearance in May Bukas Pa.
