Is
Plinky Recto a Victim of Domestic Violence?
It
took the public by surprise when Plinky Recto, known
host and TV actress, also belonging to a prominent political
clan, filled a case of domestic violence against her live-in-partner
of 4 years. With an image of being a strong and independent
woman, Plinky even stunned her family with her shocking revelation.
Last July, Plinky filed a case against her
ex-lover whom she states as a very powerful and influential
person. With the violent incident in June and her having sustained
a permanent neck injury being the last straw prompted her
to take action. The case has been on going for almost 4 months
now and has already had 15 trial dates.
Though she stated that she could not give
exact details of the case since it is currently on going,
Plinky shared during her live interview on the Buzz last Sunday
that she is now asking for a Permanent Protection Order from
the court for the safety of her sons and family. However under
the Law 9262 or Women and Children’s Protection Act
a Temporary Protection Order can be issued only to her family
but not her colleagues who she says are allegedly being harassed
by her ex live in partner. And when the trial judge inhibited
from her case last Thursday, she wasn’t given a TPO
so anything can happen to her before her next hearing.
But
according to some sources, Plinky was the one who was violent
from the beginning and that there was a third party implicated
in the relationship’s breakdown. As said by an informer,
Plinky’s ex has also been consistent with his support
to his child with the actress but she returns the supplies
back to its sender. Plinky’s neck pain is also being
pointed out as an injury she has sustained a long time ago
with it being chronic.
When asked if she ever provoked her ex to
do something brutal to her Plinky denied the allegations.
She revealed that they had a 3 week long fight before the
June incident and that anyone who receives treatment like
that would instinctively fight back. She says that no woman
in her right mind would enjoy getting beat up. Some women
remain in abusive relationships because they don’t have
the finances to support their families or are afraid of what
people might say about them. Although Plinky admitted that
she has her own money and stable job, she also thought about
the latter reason a lot, the reason why she didn’t say
anything to her family. “I am an independent person.
If I have problems I always try to solve it by myself. Pag
di ko na kaya that’s when I ask help from my family.
Ayoko din na malagay sila sa alanganin.”
She too said that her neck injuries were
caused by her ex lover’s violent behavior towards her
and that she has no medical history of the said affliction.
Doctors at the Makati Medical can prove the gravity of her
injuries and that it is called chronic because it has started
since July. Plinky clarifies that there has been no other
party involved on both sides to be the cause of the break
up. She states that in 2003 a major issue between them prompted
for a separation but when her ex asked for another chance
she reconciled with him. On the issue of child support Plinky
only states that the law prohibits her ex partner or his associates
to come near her, so how can he say that she has received
or rejected anything from him because that would mean he has
broken the law.
With
her being silent about the other party’s identity, Plinky’s
only clue about her ex is that he was involved in an incident
regarding the government and General Jarque. Plinky has no
plans to back down from the case. She thanks all the people
who have given her their support from her family to the woman’s
rights group Gabriella. She also encouraged women who have
been a victim of her ex live in partner’s violent behavior
to speak out. “Come out and defend yourself. And in
turn I will defend you.”
Two versions to study. Two sides to investigate.
