John
Lloyd and Sam get closer to Bea in Star Cinema’s Close
To You
This February 15, Star Cinema gives us another
winning story this season of love in Close To You starring
John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo and introducing Pinoy Big Brother’s
Sam Milby. Together with movie partner Close Up, Close To
You is a tale of a friendship that transcends into real love
plus all its complications.
Expect to be tickled pink by
Mel Del Rosario’s romantic screenplay with the irresistible
romantic triangle everyone will highly anticipate. John Lloyd
plays the role of Manuel, best friend to Marian, Bea’s
character. The two know each other inside and out to the point
that they could not keep secrets from each other. Or so Marian
thinks, for Manuel never had the guts to tell her how he really
feels for 16 years. When Lance, a former classmate of Marian,
now an American rock star comes into the picture, Manuel accompanies
his best friend on a chase for her greatest love around the
country and abroad. Will Manuel fight for his love? Or will
Lance steal Marian’s heart away? Would Marian realize
that the love she was looking for was right beside her all
along?
Close To You is John Lloyd and
Bea’s third movie together but sparks would definitely
still fly between the two of them. “The first movie
we did together was really awkward because we were like strangers,”
John Lloyd relates. “Yet as time passes from the second
and now the third, our relationship has also grown deeper.
In the movie, you will now see what Bea and I are to each
other.” Bea also agrees. “Mas comfortable na kami
with each other. Our team up and friendship has grown a lot.”
Big screen first timer Sam,
doesn’t mind being the third wheel in the movie. In
fact he is all praises for his co-stars. “It’s
actually quite an honor for me to be able to work with John
Lloyd and Bea. It was a fun experience and
even I got to kiss her.” Sam says mischievously. Speaking
of kisses, Bea got to lock lips with both
men in the movie. When asked to differentiate one from the
other by comparing them to toothpaste flavors,
Bea gamely answered that Sam’s tasted
like sweet like Choco Loco and John Lloyd’s tasted like
Strawberry which is her favorite.
The film which
also stars Close Up to Fame winners
Carin Cabebe and Rayson Yap, has taken the stars to scenic
locations around the country, from Manila, Bohol,
Dumaguete and Davao. They would even reach
Singapore for some special scenes. Director
Cathy Garcia-Molina expressed her satisfaction with
her whole cast and crew. “Everyone gave their all in
the film. Even new comers Sam, Carin and Rayson. They were
all eager to learn. Sam even asked the staff and his co-stars
to speak to him in tagalong so he will get used to the language.
They were all very good.”
With
the kilig theme of the movie and Valentine’s Day just
around the corner, of course the three stars also have to
reveal who is the closest to their hearts
right now, with the exception of family members. John Lloyd
jokingly says that Sam is dear to him at the moment but retracts
it and he seriously answers that Bea is the one closest to
him at the moment. “Pinagtagpo ata kami ng tadhana.”
And Bea says that John Lloyd is also the
one close to her heart. “He’s always there for
me. Through the good and tough times lagi siyang andiyan para
sa akin.” Sam surprisingly said that Pinoy Big Brother
host Toni Gonzaga is the one closest to him. “I am getting
to know Toni.” he says shyly. All have no Valentine’s
Day plans as of yet but John Lloyd again teases Bea that they
would probably exchange special gifts “…pag kasal
na kami!” which gets him a playful swat from his ka-love
team.
John Lloyd and Bea assures everyone
though that what the partnership and chemistry they have seen
on screen and in the recent interview they gave on the Buzz
is not just some gimmick they have put on for the movie. “Palalim
ng palalim ang pagsasama namin ni Bea habang tumatagal. Ayaw
kong bigyan ng label ang relasyon namin sa ngayon. What you
see is what you get. Totoo yun. Napaka-crucial ng stage ng
friendship namin, dahil kailangan ako ni Bea lalo na sa ngayon.
At nataon lang ang pagkakaroon naming ng pelikula. I’m
doing all this for her.” John Lloyd firmly states.
Don’t let Cupid’s bow catch you alone! Get that
loving feeling and watch Close To You -- in cinemas February
15.
