Like a song that ended on a bad note, ex-scholars Miguel Mendoza and Bea Muñoz agreed to part ways following the finale of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2. At the press conference of the PDA Top 6, third placer Miguel broke the news of his split with longtime girlfriend Bea. “Nakapag-usap na kami [ni Bea] noong PDA party. We’ve been in a relationship for a long time na on and off. We figured na it won’t do us any good if we continue. It would be better if we just go on with our careers. Ako second chance ko na ‘to to enter showbiz kaya hindi ko na bibitawan,” Miguel exclusively told ABS-CBN.com.
Miguel stressed that the split was a mutual decision. Without going into details, he shared how frequent bouts of jealousy set their relationship on a shaky ground. “Sa amin dalawa ‘yung problema. Kadalasan ‘yung selosan. May times na ako ‘yung magseselos, may times na siya. Ngayon we just remain as intimate friends, it was a mutual decision.”
As for Bea, Miguel said, “Hindi pa siya sure talaga kung gusto niyang mag-full time showbiz or mag-school. She enrolled kasi, ako naman focused ako dito (singing). That’s why we felt we can’t handle a relationship right now.”
But after describing themselves as just being “intimate friends” at a presscon, the ambiguous term had people questioning about the real state of their relationship. When ABS-CBN.com clarified what he meant by the word “intimate,” Miguel took back what he said and corrected himself. “I think I used the wrong adjective. Siguro it was more like ‘close friends.’”
Instead of being depressed over the split, Miguel was radiating with excitement and optimism when he and fellow PDA finalists met the local press. The aspiring singer looks forward to a bright career in the music industry given his remarkable talent and intensive training inside the academy. “I dream of doing concerts, then album, tapos world tour, then to go international."
