How much can a mother sacrifice in order to raise a child with cerebral palsy? This is the premise of “Regalo” a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode starring Vilma Santos and Maja Salvador. It happens to be one of the most requested episodes of the show which won the Star For All Seasons a Best Actress award from the 2006 KBP Golden Awards and 20th PMPC Star Awards.
The story revolves around Daisy, who is forced to devote most of her time taking care of her daughter April. The latter manages to live a normal life until she turns 18 and her illness begin to worsen again. Since Daisy is always busy attending to April’s needs, there comes a point wherein others member of her family will resent her for neglecting them in the process. How will Daisy cope with all the stress and the demands of her family? Should she justify her actions when it’s obvious that April needs her most?
