<p>MANILA - The construction of the Estrella-Pantaleon bridge has been deferred to January 2019 to avoid economic losses during the Christmas season, the Department of Public Works and Highways said Tuesday.</p><p>The public including business groups cited that the closure of the bridge could cause &quot;possible huge economic loss&quot; especially this coming holiday season, DPWH Project Director Virgilio Castillo said in a statement dated Sept. 24.</p><p>&quot;We are constrained to defer the implementation of the project and decided to proceed by 1st week of January 2019,&quot; Castillo said.</p><p>The bridge linking Mandaluyong and Makati was closed Sunday to give way to the supposed Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge China Grant Aid Project.
