Since she and fellow Hawaiian Pinay Camile Velasco cracked the top 10 of "American Idol," many more Filipinos have followed their footsteps, making their way through reality singing competitions.

For her, being one of the first Filipinos to break that barrier is a title that the Honolulu-born carries with pride.

"It means a lot to me and it really means the world to me. My mom always said you’re carrying the Filipino flag everywhere you go, it meant a lot to me and my family. It's amazing for me to represent the Filipino community everywhere I go," she said.

Trias was just 17 years old when she took the world by storm finishing in the Top 3 of "American Idol."

Now based in Las Vegas, the 32-years old remains active and recently performed the US National Anthem during the Los Angeles Clippers' Hawaiian night.

The new season of the relaunched "American Idol" began earlier this month and held auditions in Hawaii.
