ABS-CBN opens Philippine TV’s women empowerment drama “Against All Odds” to international market

Philippine television’s hit advocacy series on women empowerment, “Against All Odds” (“Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala”), is set to captivate the international audience as ABS-CBN, the country’s leading multimedia conglomerate, adds it up to its wide array of top-caliber programs being sold to content buyers coming from different parts of the world.

“Against All Odds,” which has been dubbed as an ‘advocacy series’ because of its women-empowering storyline that indicts domestic violence against women, tells the story of protagonist Anessa (Judy Ann Santos) who suffered in the hands of her abusive husband, Eros (Sam Milby), and strived to fight for her right as a woman and as a mother to their only child.

“Against All Odds” recently aired its tension-filled finale on Philippine television last August 23 that kept millions of Filipinos at the edge of their seats. The series, topbilled by Philippines’ Queen of Soap Operas Judy Ann Santos, earned its highest-rated episode with 32.5% rating or an audience share of 58%. It also created a buzz on social media and trended nationwide via popular micro-blogging site Twitter. Until now, fans are raving online and persistently requesting that ABS-CBN produce a sequel to the series.

ABS-CBN International Distribution Division, which has sold over 30,000 hours of content to over 50 territories worldwide, continues to be the world’s premiere source of high-quality Filipino programs by offering “Against All Odds,” a locally-produced drama that will surely appeal to various markets with its brave theme, fast-paced story, and strong female character that women across cultures can relate to.
