PH’s top-rating noontime show lands landmark franchise in Indonesia

“It’s Showtime,” the Philippines’ most-watched noontime variety show airing on ABS-CBN, has landed its first international franchise via MNCTV, an Indonesian TV station that will premiere its own version of the Filipino variety show beginning March 25 (Monday).

The groundbreaking milestone also marks ABS-CBN’s first non-narrative format franchise buy, solidifying the company’s position as a reliable content provider in the international arena.

“It’s Showtime has been spreading happiness to Filipinos for almost 10 years now. ABS-CBN is proud to extend the ‘It’s Showtime’ brand of happiness in time for the program’s 10th anniversary to viewers in Indonesia to show that the network is a premier source of non-narrative formats,” Wincess Gonzalez, ABS-CBN International Distribution Asia sales head said.

MNCTV’s version of “It’s Showtime” will carry popular segments that have brought happiness to many Filipinos, including “Your Movie (Sine Mo ‘To),” a sketch comedy that puts the limelight on audiences to showcase their acting chops; “Can It Fit? (Cash-Ya! Kaya!),” a game that pits two groups against each other to do a series of physical challenges; “What Did You Say? (Ansabe),” a lip-reading game; “Copy Cut,” a team game wherein groups try to imitate the poses of the people shown in a picture, and “Showtime’s Star (Bida Dance),” a talent competition.

Just like in the Philippines, “It’s Showtime Indonesia” will be hosted by the biggest and brightest stars in Indonesia such as top comedian, presenter, actor, and singer Raffi Ahmad, model-turned-actress Luna Maya, sought-after host Indra Herlambang, actress and host Chika Jessica, Filipino TV host and recording artist Leo Consul, and rockstar twins Musbrother.

On March 16 (Saturday), MNCTV uploaded on its Facebook page a lyric video of the “It’s Showtime” theme song in Bahasa.

ABS-CBN’s content, popular for their heartfelt Filipino stories, are available across other territories through ABS-CBN International Distribution, recognized in the global arena as a reliable foreign content provider.
