Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA – Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy has donated $40,000 or roughly P2 million to the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc.Also known as Mowelfund, the non-profit group provides for the welfare of the workers in the Philippine film industry.Jo Koy made this donation after he was given a star at the Eastwood Walk of Fame, which honors personalities who have reached the epitome of success in various fields.“My target was P1 million for the Mowelfund. We have about 30,000 dollars from the Jo Koy Entertainment. So that’s about P1.5 million,” Mowelfund’s Federico Moreno said during the event on Sunday.Jo Koy then approached Moreno and shared that he also asked the people in his team to share what they can for the organization.“I told my manager and my agent that they can’t work with me unless they put money in so we added another $5,000 from Arsonhouse and another $5,000 from CAA. So that’s $40,000,” he said. Aside from being one of the inductees at the Eastwood Walk of Fame, Jo Koy is in the country to stage <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/life/01/13/20/jo-koy-postpones-cebu-show-following-airport-shutdown-due-to-ashfall">shows</a> at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 15, and at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Cebu on January 17.On Monday, he took to his Instagram page to ask his followers to include in their prayers the Filipino families affected by the Taal volcanic activity.
