Shiseido launches Global Lavender Ring initiative in PH

In honor of World Cancer Awareness Day, Shiseido officially debuts Lavender Ring: Makeup &amp; Photos with Smiles, a volunteer-led initiative that has a goal of supporting and nurturing a community for people with cancer so they can live their lives with a smile in the country. The movement was first started by Shiseido Japan in 2017 and has since expanded to China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand with more than 300 cancer patients who have participated. It uses the symbolic color of lavender to represent all types of cancer while the ring in the logo shows the networks of people who understand cancer and support cancer survivors.<figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1707820457523.jpeg" alt="Shiseido" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></figure>“We are delighted to launch the Lavender Ring Makeup Photos with Smiles project in the Philippines in partnership with I Want to Share, EPCALM, Kaya Community, Kasuso Foundation, and I Can Serve. This is a project that truly embodies Shiseido’s global mission to provide beauty innovations for a better world and the brand’s commitment to empowering individuals to be the best versions of themselves through the power of beauty,” Michael Goh, managing director of Shiseido Philippines, said.Shiseido invited around 60 beneficiaries ranging from 15 to 69 years old at Shangri-La at The Fort for a day of makeover. The volunteers were treated to a hair and makeup day courtesy of were supported by Filipino celebrity makeup artists Mark Qua, Gela Laurel, Iowani Ungpingco, and Muriel Vega Perez; as well as celebrity hairstylists Lourd Ramos, Dale Mallari, Jeck Aguilar, and Justine Ocampo. The makeup looks utilized the Shiseido Life Quality Makeup’s Perfect Cover range that’s specially designed to address changes in appearance from cancer treatments, even skin tone, smooth skin surfaces.<figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1707820457149.jpeg" alt="Shiseido" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></figure><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1707820458298.png" alt="Shiseido" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></figure>The event was also graced by ambassadors I Want to Share Foundation founder and chairman Sheila Romero, chemist and Progressive Laboratories CEO and founder Pinky Tobiano, and fashion and lifestyle content creator and entrepreneur Ida Anduyan.In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, Anduyan noted how important it was for her to use her platform to raise cancer awareness and maybe bring some comfort through it. “I’ve always wanted to do more about my experience. I have a platform so I feel like I should give back more so when they mentioned this, [I thought] perfect. It’s a good first step. Like a few days ago they were bald and were wearing masks. And then now, they’re like this—living life, with a refreshed POV.”To cap off the makeover, each volunteer was treated to a personal photoshoot where they were encouraged to write their own manifesto and heartfelt message on what they love, as well as what they deem important to them in life. Each photo can be viewed on Shiseido’s Lavender Ring website. The initiative uses the power of makeup to help cancer patients and survivors gain their confidence back.Bringing together cancer survivors to share their stories with a like-minded community, the initiative helps to support cancer survivors in continuing to live their lives with dignity and smiles. Lavender Ring: Makeup &amp; Photos With Smiles also hopes to provide this community a voice to debunk stereotypes surrounding their illness and instill confidence in themselves. Purple is chosen to represent all types of cancer, while the Lavender Ring motif is a symbol of the networks of cancer survivors coming together as a support community.<div> </div><div> </div>
