QUEZON CITY —  Sichuan heat has officially arrived at SM North EDSA as cult hotpot favorite Sichu Malatang opens its newest — and 11th — branch, bringing its signature “build-your-own-bowl” experience to one of Quezon City’s busiest lifestyle hubs.The restaurant known for offering authentic Sichuan heat launched its new branch on Tuesday, June 9. Located on Level 4 of The Block, it seats up to 45 guests and features its signature red against a more refined yet rebellious look, inspired by the vibe of late-night food districts.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1780989960445SICHU INTERIOR 7.jpg" style="width:655px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="A look inside Sichu Malatang&#x27;s branch at SM North EDSA. Handout</div>At the heart of the store is a big circular ceiling light that radiates the warmth and energy of a simmering hotpot. For vegetables, options range from fresh leafy greens such as spinach, lotus root, broccoli to mushrooms, especially their white fungus.For its meat or protein selection, diners can choose from beef and chicken to eggs, fishballs, and tofu.For carbs lovers, the restaurant has variety of noodles including udon, sotanghon, and instant ramen, and white rice or fried rice.After choosing their ingredients, diners have their bowls weighed to determine the price. After weighing, the bowls will be handed over to their Chinese chef to be cooked in authentic Sichuan-style broth or sauces. Reyma Deveza, ABS-CBN News</div>Diners can choose from Sichu&#x27;s four signature styles:  Malatang Hotpot, which is broth-based and best paired with dipping sauce; Malaxiangguo Drypot, which is dry stir-fried and best paired with white rice or fried rice; Malapan Mixpot, which is rich and saucy; and the newly introduced Malaxiangguo Light, which is healthier, less greasy, vegan and vegetarian-friendly. Diners also get to choose the level of spiciness from zero to five.“As pioneers of this concept, we take immense pride in setting the standard. Every single one of our signature sauces is crafted entirely from scratch by our expert, in-house Chinese chefs,” Li shared.“Having grown up in a Chinese household and earned a professional culinary degree, I personally oversee our flavor profiles. My heritage provides a deep understanding of authentic Chinese flavors and traditions, while my formal culinary training enables me to refi ne and adapt them thoughtfully for local tastes. This unique combination allows me to bridge tradition and innovation, ensuring authenticity while appealing to both Filipino and Chinese communities,&quot; he added.The SM North EDSa branch will also debut new offerings including Lao Gan Ma Fried Rice and an expanded gelato line priced at under P95 per cup. The gelato flavors include Vanilla, Matcha, Mango, and Hojicha.To celebrate the opening, Sichu Malatang will hold a 50% off grand opening promo from June 12 to 14. The promo will be available during two daily sessions: the first 25 diners at the 11 a.m. lunch session and the first 25 diners at the 6 p.m. dinner session will receive 50% off.Sichu Malatang opened its first restaurant in Double Dragon, Pasay City in 2019.The next big move for Sichu Malatang is a branch opening in Makati, which will be its largest store yet.&quot;I think this is just the start of Sichu 2.0. It will keep moving forward, starting with the creation of our flagship store. After that, we already have other key locations lined up for expansion,&quot; Li teased.<div> </div><div>Sichu Malatang&#x27;s branch at  Level 4 of The Block, SM North EDSA in Quezon City is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.</div>
