Luzon quake death toll climbs to 11

MANILA - The death toll from a strong earthquake that hit parts of Luzon jumped to 11 as rescuers pushed on with the hunt for survivors.The 6.1-magnitude tremor leveled a four-storey supermarket in Porac town in Pampanga, killing at least 5 while dozens remain missing.Survivors from the collapsed building were rushed to the nearest hospital.The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Pampanga also recorded 3 more fatalities in Porac.In Lubao town, Maria Oliva Paule, 56, and her granddaughter Niela Dennise, 7, were crushed by falling walls.The earthquake also triggered several landslides in Zambales, killing a 6-year-old child in San Marcelino town.As of early Tuesday, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported damaged buildings, including bridges, churches, and schools.The state seismology office, meanwhile, has recorded more than 200 aftershocks, including a 3.4-magnitude quake in Angeles City, Pampanga at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. - Report from Michael Joe Delizo, Dennis Datu, Gracie Rutao, and Lyza Aquino, ABS-CBN News
