MANILA — Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) from 2022 to 2023 showed inconsistencies, based on documents the office of Senator Risa Hontiveros furnished to the media.

According to her June 30, 2022 SALN, Guo’s total assets amounted to P429.6 million. The next day, however, July 1, 2022, she refiled her SALN which showed that her assets decreased to P286 million.

Her total assets later on increased as stated in her December 31, 2022 SALN amounting to P430.8 million but it took a dip again in December 31, 2023 with her total assets at P367.2 million.

On Wednesday, Hontiveros said the issue with Guo’s SALNs could possibly be another ground for her disqualification.

“If it will lead to that, then pang-reinforce siya dun sa ibang mga procedure, halimbawa sa Comelec or sa Ombudsman, yung isa na posibleng matanggal sa posisyon,” Hontiveros said in a press conference.

The Senate Deputy Minority Leader also flagged the questionable removal of some assets.

“Just as surprisingly contradictory documents, yung pagtanggal ng mga pitong real assets as land properties mula dun sa unang SALN of 2022, papunta dun sa pangalawang SALN of 2022, one day apart lang,” Hontiveros pointed out.

“‘Yung pagtanggal sa mga business interests dun sa pangalawang isinumiteng 2022 SALN, talagang pwedeng lumabas na paglabag dun sa obligasyon naming lahat ng mga nagtatrabaho sa gobyerno na magbigay ng kompleto at totoong Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.”

In her latest SALN dated December 31, 2023 Guo listed real properties located in Bulacan, Tarlac, and Las Piñas City.

She also put down shares of stock in the QJJ Embroidery Center, Inc., real estate group, and farm. Guo also has a club share in a posh island club.

Her total liabilities were P189.6 million.

Earlier this week, Ombudsman Samuel Martires ordered Guo and 2 municipal officers to be put on preventive suspension amid the ongoing investigation into her POGO ties.

The Office of the Solicitor General as well as the Senate are also investigating Guo over her questionable citizenship among other issues.

Guo's camp on Thursday sought the lifting of the suspension, with her lawyers filing before the Ombudsman a motion for reconsideration and an urgent motion to lift the preventive suspension against their client.

Guo was accused of backing a massive Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) compound where authorities found evidence of human trafficking, serious illegal detention, physical abuse, and even torture.
