MANILA — The Philippine National Police on Monday said it had not received information on any “credible threat” against Vice President Sara Duterte’s security.

Duterte last week alleged that the government was ignoring threats to her life, which she said were “well documented with documents and videos.”

“Sa ngayon po, ang PNP ay wala po tayong information as to the credible threat against the Vice President. Pero again, sabi nga natin hindi tayo pupuwedeng magkumpiyansa dahil pinag-uusapan natin ay Bise Presidente,” said PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.

“Yun ngang ordinaryong elected officers sa barangay e inherent ang threat d’yan, how much more ang Vice President. Kaya nga natin siya sini-secure, meron siyang mga closein,” she told TeleRadyo Serbisyo.

Last week, the military said many of the members of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) would be temporarily replaced with new personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the PNP.

AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. said they received a subpoena from the PNP calling members of the VPSPG to be investigated.

A police doctor had filed a complaint against Duterte, the head of her security detail, and others the alleged “forced transfer” of her House-detained chief of staff Zuleika Lopez to a hospital.
