“Maalala Mo Kaya,” the Asian Academy Creative Awards’ Best Single Drama/Telemovie winner, welcomes the new year with “MMK”-worthy stories of resilience, and fulfillment of hopes and dreams that transcends for the whole month of January.

This Saturday, January 12, witness and follow the story of couple Barbie Imperial (Alanis) and Paulo Angeles (Hennesy), who will fight for their love in spite of their health conditions: Alanis has a chronic kidney disease while Paolo has gastroesophageal reflux disease. Despite his own condition, Hennesy will refuse to have himself checked just to be by Alanis’ side at all times, giving her priority over his studies.

“MMK’s” January 19 episode brings the inspiring life story of famous University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons Team Captain Paul “King Maroon” Desiderio (Ronnie Alonte).  Foregoing his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, Paul gives in to his father’s wishes of him becoming a basketball player. One fateful day, he encounters an opportunity that would help bring comfort to his family’s life—to play for the University of the Visayas. The stint would eventually pave the way for his post in the University of the Philippines’ historic UAAP championship comeback.

Meanwhile, hope springs eternal in Mitch and Dudz’ story: an extraordinary love between a gay and a lesbian, who will go against all odds to take care and build their own family in an eye-opening episode on January 26.

The episodes this January are under the direction of Theodore Boborol, Darnel Villaflor, and FM Reyes.
