ABS-CBN Sports displays Filipino MMA supremacy in ONE: Masters of Fate

November 07, 2019 AT 12:34 PM

ONE Championship plans to end 2019 with a huge bang as they fly back to Manila for the “ONE: Masters of Fate” fightcard headlined by the first-ever All-Filipino world title fight this Friday (November 8) starting at 8:30 pm, LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A, the ABS-CBN Sports Facebook, and iWant from the Mall of Asia (MoA) Arena in Pasay City.

On the heels of their successful megablockbuster fight card in Tokyo, Asia’s biggest fight promotions outfit showcases Filipino supremacy in mixed martial arts (MMA) with a main event featuring Team Lakay’s Joshua Pacio, who will stake his ONE world strawweight championship against fellow Filipino Rene Catalan.

Pacio (14-3, 7 submissions) is coming off a scintillating 4th round knockout victory over Yosuke Saruta last April, when he recaptured his belt over “Tobizaru” much to the Filipinos’ delight in a packed MoA Arena. Pacio is the last standing Team Lakay champion and wants to keep the famed Baguio-based camp’s lone title before 2019 ends. Meanwhile, Catalan (6-2, 2KOs), finally gets his shot at ONE Championship glory after racking off six straight victories following two losses in his debut inside the cage. It included a very big technical knockout win over a Pacio nemesis in Japanese superstar Yoshitaka Naito last March.

Aside from that, two more Filipino warriors are also going to be in the thick of the intense action. Team Lakay and Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) icon Eduard Folayang (21-8) is set to rock inside the cage once more three months after tasting defeat from “The Underground King” Eddie Alvarez in ONE’s Lightweight grandprix. The “Landslide” will be facing Mongolian Tsogookhuu Amarsanaa (5-1, 3KOs) in the undercard bout. Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio (12-8) is also returning to action as he faces Finnish fighter Toni Tauru (11-7-1, 8 submissions) in the other undercard action.

To give the fights even more Filipino flavor are ABS-CBN Sports anchor Anton Roxas and MMA analyst Theo Castillo, who will cover the action in “ONE: Masters of Fate,” the first ONE event in Manila to have local commentary.

Don’t miss ONE Championship’s last Manila tour for 2019 in “ONE: Masters of Fate” fightcard beaming LIVE from the MoA Arena in Pasay City on S+A, S+A HD, the ABS-CBN Sports Facebook, and iWant starting at 8:30 pm and be part of the historic first-ever All-Filipino world title fight in MMA history.
